Manuscript review
We assess chapter structure, headings, images, tables, notes and other special elements before confirming the production scope.
Kindle, paperback & hardcover formatting
Format-specific interior design for Kindle eBooks, paperbacks and hardcovers—built around readable typography, reliable navigation and publication-ready presentation.
One book, different reading experiences
A strong manuscript still needs a well-built interior. Book formatting controls how chapters begin, how headings relate to the text, how white space guides the reader and how special elements behave on the page or screen. Inconsistent fonts, awkward page breaks and broken navigation can make a finished book feel difficult to read.
Royal Digital Publishing prepares each edition for its intended format. A Kindle eBook must adjust across devices and reader settings, while a paperback or hardcover uses fixed dimensions, margins and pagination. We do not treat one file as a universal solution.
If the manuscript still needs language or structural work, complete editing and proofreading before final formatting. This reduces costly layout revisions later.
We assess chapter structure, headings, images, tables, notes and other special elements before confirming the production scope.
We establish typography, hierarchy, spacing, paragraph treatment and chapter-opening styles appropriate to the book.
Separate digital and print editions are prepared according to their technical and reading requirements.
We review navigation, page flow, alignment, image placement and visible formatting issues before delivery.
Format-specific deliverables
Reflowable formatting allows readers to adjust font size and screen settings. We organize chapters, headings, paragraph styles, links and a clickable table of contents for a cleaner digital reading experience. When a validated EPUB is required, our EPUB conversion service covers that separate production step.
Paperback interiors use a fixed trim size with deliberate margins, gutters, page numbering, running heads and chapter starts. We prepare print-ready pages that account for binding and content density, including popular 6 × 9-inch layouts.
Hardcover editions require the same page-level precision as paperbacks, but their production specifications may differ. We adapt the interior to the selected format and coordinate final page count with the full-wrap book cover design.
What the service can include
The exact scope depends on the manuscript and publishing plan. A straightforward novel needs a different layout system from an illustrated business book, workbook or reference title. Before production begins, we identify the elements that need consistent treatment.
Before formatting begins
Final formatting works best when the manuscript has already been edited and approved. Late additions can shift page numbers, affect the table of contents and change a print book’s spine width. Final images should also be supplied at suitable quality with clear placement instructions.
Our manuscript preparation checklist explains how to organize source files before layout. Authors comparing the technical differences can also review our guide to eBook vs. paperback formatting.
After the files are complete, multi-platform publishing assistance is available for Amazon KDP, Gumroad and Etsy setup and publication support. Formatting improves file readiness, but every submission remains subject to the platform’s current review process.
Yes. Kindle eBooks and print books are formatted as separate editions because reflowable digital content and fixed-page print interiors have different technical requirements.
A finalized, edited manuscript in an editable format is preferred. Please also provide final images, tables, trim-size preferences and any publisher or platform requirements.
Yes, subject to the complexity and quality of the source material. Tables, illustrations, captions, footnotes and other special elements are reviewed before scope and pricing are confirmed.
We support common trade and nonfiction trim sizes, including 6 × 9 inches. The final trim size is selected according to the book type, page count, content density and publishing plan.
Formatting focuses on layout and presentation. Editing and proofreading are separate services and should normally be completed before final formatting begins.
Yes. We can assess an existing interior and prepare corrected files for eligible updates. Changes that affect page count may also require a revised print cover and must follow the publishing platform’s current rules.
